The BSMC was founded by a small group of R/C enthusiasts and is dedicated to the construction and safe operation of scale, radio controlled, miniature aircraft and other models. We try to encourage friendly relationships between members of this club and members of other associations or clubs, especially where Radio Control is used for the operation of models.
Club membership is restricted — by invitation only — but we actively encourage any person with an interest in modeling to consider applying for membersahip! Naturally, spouses, sweethearts and children of our members are welcome to visit at any time, and the general public are also welcomed as guests, although we request that they make contact first, so we know to keep an eye out for them!
We have 1100 images in our gallery. Here is a small sample:

Our flying field and clubhouse are located in beautiful surroundings, a safe distance from the nearest main road or building, and the fresh, country air make for a pleasant afternoon for our members and guests. We maintain a grass strip of approximately 350' in length; sufficient for all but the largest models. Our simple but comfortable clubhouse is a perfect haven from the heat of the sun or a sprinkle of rain.
Our clubhouse is equipped with electric light, a W/C and a small kitchen area. For directions to our club, please contact one of our members.
But the club isn't the only place we fly! In season, when the Atlantic breeze is suitable, club activities frequently migrate to our favourite east-coast sloping-site. The friendly, relaxed, club atmosphere surrounds pilots and guests, as slope gliders of all description take to the wing in excellent flying conditions, over spectacular scenery. The facilities may be lacking, but the fun comes with us when we travel away from our usual home.
And just in case you are not familiar with slope gliding, and think that it is somehow boring and inferior to flying powered models? Think again! Gliding at the slope is thrilling and exciting, humourous and fun. The most common remark heard from the first-time visitor to the slope is "Wow!!!"
At the time of this writing, the fastest R/C aircraft in the world is a glider! That's right, a model airplane with no motor or engine of any kind. The record, set in California in January of 2021, is held by a Kinetic Transonic DP with a wingspan of 130" (10' 10" or 330 cm) and stands at 548 miles per hour. No, that is not a typo; yes you read it right! 548 MPH or 882 KPH. Go see for yourself. (If your eyes are fast enough...)
